The Argentine-born actress Anya Taylor-Joy is in love with action, strong emotions, getting filled with dirt, sand and the blood that is put into her in the different productions in which she has been involved in the 10 years of her career.

So, for this 28-year-old girl, who is visiting our country, starring in Furiosa was a delight, driving cars, motorcycles and heavy vehicles at high speed, among swirling sand, even though she does not have a permit or license. to drive.

I loved! It was so funny, because I love being covered in blood, I don’t know why. My first film was The Witch, so, for Amomí, that’s what making movies is: always being dirty and covered in blood,” Anya Taylor-Joy commented in a meeting with media from Mexico and Latin America.

He also took time to delve into the preparation he had to film this fifth film in the saga created by the Australian director, now 79 years old, George Miller.

I still don’t have my driver’s license. I don’t have time, I swear to God I’m always working, so I’m not in one place for the right amount of time. I would love to have it, but, well, I started a year before arriving in Australia with motorcycles and cars, and the first thing I learned to do is this thing where you go all out with the car, you go very fast, you hit the turn and then you brake, it’s like a roller coaster, but you are driving.

It didn’t scare me. I had fun. I have this strange thing that, when I’m in situations with a little bit of danger, I start laughing, which is quite strange for people, but for me I’m having a great time,” said Taylor-Joy, who shared on Instagram some images of their wedding with desserts that were cupcakes in the shape of bleeding hearts.

The actress who has become known for projects such as The Queen’s Gambit, Glass, Fragmented, The Menu and The Man from the North -without forgetting the weight she will have in the next installment of Dune- was signed by George Miller to play in the big screen to Furiosa, a character brought to life by Charlize Theron in the 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road and who now passes to Argentina in this new installment that will serve as a prequel to the Mad Max universe, which began 45 years ago .

For Taylor-Joy, who arrived in Mexico last Sunday to promote Furiosa, scheduled for its premiere on May 23 on commercial billboards, getting into this universe was a gift, well, in addition to being able to explore that world of action on wheels and showing her wild and rough side, was able to join a current and very necessary discourse: female empowerment despite all the obstacles that exist in life or all those people who strive to pave the way.

I hope to have your resilience. His story affected me a lot and I hope it reaches other people. I think this girl has an impossible hope: to return home, and that affected me a lot. It’s a good message for women today, because no matter how many times someone crushes you, get up, because, at some point, you’re going to win. I sound like a broken record, but this story leaves me with resilience, it’s like every time someone tries to displace you, think that when you are taking a small step forward, you are taking it not only for yourself, but for all the people around you. It’s around you. So, if it’s a small step, it doesn’t matter, you’re still taking a small step forward,” the actress reflected.

Her character, Furiosa, is a young woman torn from her home by the people of Dementus, played by Chris Hemsworth, and who must learn to survive in a post-apocalyptic world in which the law of the fittest persists.

Regarding what it was like to enter the world of Mad Max, a saga that began in the 70s and 80s with Mel Gibson’s work as Max Rockatansky, Anya Taylor-Joy did not miss the opportunity to give her place to George Miller, the mind behind of the franchise.

It’s totally his world and more than any other director I’ve worked with, he paints every picture. We had three units rolling at all times and I swear to God that anything you see on the screen he drew by hand. You can do 20 takes of something and suddenly he sees it and says: ‘No, no, it’s good, but you need to have your helmet a little further forward’ and then he leaves,” said the actress, who is going to produce and star in the film Sacrifice, by director Romain Gavras, alongside Chris Evans and Salma Hayek.

And about her experience working with Australian Chris Hemsworth, who looks physically different due to the use of prosthetics to enhance his nose and get into the character of Dementus, Taylor-Joy was full of praise.

He’s divine, and I’m so lucky that our real-life relationship is nothing like our characters’, because I spent the entire movie trying to kill him, so I’m glad that’s not the case. “He is very humble and is a very good companion,” said the actress.

Anya visited Frida Kahlo’s house and did a session with Fine Arts in the background.
