‘Star Wars’: this was Darth Vader’s visit to Padmé Amidala’s grave

The tragedy of Anakin Skywalker is told in parallel to the fall of the Galactic Republic, a plan that Palpatine had been preparing for decades. The Jedi, in perpetual internal conflict, falls to the dark side and becomes Darth Vader, Darth Sidious’s apprentice. When his wife Padmé Amidala realizes what has happened to her, her life is extinguished forever: she gives birth to Luke and Leia and dies after giving birth. Masters Yoda and Obi-Wan then decide to hide the children in different locations to prevent them from being persecuted by the newborn Empire, but Vader discovers the truth in the years to come and visits Padmé’s grave to search for answers.

The discovery in Padmé Amidala’s tomb

In the comic series ‘Star Wars: Darth Vader’, set after ‘The Empire Strikes Back’, the Sith Lord embarks on a journey in search of his lost past. He knows that Luke Skywalker is his son because the bounty hunter Boba Fett gave him the last name some time ago. He arrives on Tatooine and follows the trail until he meets Sabé, Queen Amidala’s double. Her resemblance is so striking that she awakens Skywalker’s dormant memories, but the maiden has a plan to destroy the Sith, something that of course it does not achieve. What happens next is that Vader continues gathering research and finds Padmé’s tomb on Naboo.

Sabé implores Vader not to open the sarcophagus, but he ignores it and uses the Force to slide the lid, carved with the figure of the former queen and senator. The memories snake through her tortured head again, the happy memory of an Amidala in love and the dark nightmare of when he tried to strangle her on Mustafar. He decides to give up and allows the droid to scan the inside of the sarcophagus, which reveals a medical implant that hides coordinates, the place where Obi-Wan Kenobi took Padmé to give birth: Polis Massa.

The data is already deleted and the kernel damaged, so Vader only gets to see a recording of Padmé dying: “Obi-Wan, there is good in him, I know it. “I know… there is… still…” The Sith spares Sabé’s life and returns to his master once more.

The next ‘Star Wars’ series is ‘The Acolyte’, which will be released on June 5 in Spain and will be set during the final stage of the High Republic. Later will come the special ‘Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy’, a what if which will bring with it the return of Jar Jar Binks… as Sith Lord.
