This is the debut feature of Pedro Martín-Calero, which he co-writes with screenwriter Isabel Peña. In the words of Pedro Martín-Calero: “From the beginning I conceived El Llanto as a genre film where the most important thing was the characters. A story with a strong psychological charge and a visual style that seeks to surprise the viewer in each scene.”
