It doesn’t look like we’ll be able to see the sequel to ‘I’m Legend’ in the near future
Almost two years ago, the launch of a sequel to ‘Soy Leyenda’ was announced in which Will Smith returned accompanied by a new character played by Michael B. Jordan. However, news about how the project is progressing has been quite scarce since then and now it has been Jordan who has clarified what the current status of ‘I Am Legend 2’ is.
“We’re still working on the script.”
The protagonist of the ‘Creed’ saga has revealed exclusively to People that he is looking forward to working with Smith, but he has also made it clear that It doesn’t look like we’ll be able to see ‘I’m Legend 2’ in the near future:
We are still working on the script and fine-tuning it. It doesn’t have a release date or anything like that. I don’t know exactly where we’re going to shoot it, but I’m very excited to get in front of the camera with him. As someone I have admired for a long time, being able to work with Will is something I am very excited about. I am very excited.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Warner is waiting to see the public’s response to ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ before stepping on the accelerator with ‘I’m Legend 2’. Ultimately, Smith’s image was quite damaged after the slap he gave to Chris Rock at the Oscars and that may harm its ability to bring viewers to the movies.
It may also be that they simply haven’t yet come up with a script that satisfies all parties.
