From comics to cinema: new leaked images of James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ overwhelm fans

These days we are filming ‘superman‘, the new film by James Gunn which will kick off the new DCU in July 2025. And the filming is taking place outdoors on the streets of Cleveland, in the United States, a place that has become Metropolis for a few days. That is why we have already been able to see the look of many of its protagonists, including the Superman of David Corenswet and his alter ego Clark Kent, the Lois Lane by Rachel Brosnahan, the Mister Terrific by Edi Gathegi, the Lex Luthor of Nicholas Hoult or the members of the Daily Planet, among other characters. But now we want to pay attention to a couple of new images that are causing a lot of talk and that reveal the particular tone of the film: pure comic.

Superman’s heroic actions in the Daily Planet

And although we were recently able to see some covers of the Daily Planet -signed by himself Clark Kent– from the movie ‘Superman’ with heroic actions of the Man of Steel by David Corenswet, another issue of the fictional Metropolis newspaper has now been leaked in which we see Superman performing an action as overwhelming as it is emotional; and it is taken directly from the comic strips ‘All-Star Superman‘, one of Gunn’s main sources of inspiration.

Thus, the headline reads as follows: “Superman fulfills a dream”. The photograph, for its part, shows us Superman wearing a school bus flying over the pyramids of Egypt. But who is on board said bus? A group of cancer patients who wanted to visit the pyramids before they died. Of course, these covers – especially this one in particular – reveal the more classic luminous and superheroic tone that James Gunn wanted to imprint on his cinematographic vision of the Man of Steel.

Another of the new leaked images of ‘Superman’ says a lot about the iconography that the filmmaker useswith a photograph of Clark Kent with a display case behind him full of Man of Steel commemorative itemscreating a striking dichotomy in a single image between the two personalities of Kal-El on Earth.
