A year ago, Marvel Studios released Secret Invasion on Disney+, a series that promised a lot but ended up being the most poorly rated of the MCU. Although it started strong, the plot quickly fell apart and culminated in a disappointing ending, leaving many fans dissatisfied. One particularly painful aspect was the deaths of two important characters: Maria Hill and Talos.
The Deaths of Maria Hill and Talos, One Year Later
The impact of these deaths is felt even more strongly a year later. Maria Hill, played by Cobie Smulders, made her debut in The Avengers as the deputy director of SHIELD and Nick Fury’s right-hand woman. Her character appeared in several MCU films, including Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Spider-Man: Far From HomeHill was a valuable asset to the Avengers and a loyal agent to Fury.

During the series, both characters are killed by Gravik, the Skrull villain who seeks to make Earth the new home of the Skrulls. Neither received a heroic death; Hill was killed early in the series to motivate Fury, while Talos was used as a catalyst for G’iah to fight Gravik in a CGI-filled confrontation. These deaths, far from being heroic, were unceremonious and used the characters as emotional tools rather than giving them a dignified send-off.
The Impact of Secret Invasion on the MCU
Another problem is that the events of Secret Invasion They seem to have no importance in the MCU. The Marvelswhich includes Nick Fury and the Skrulls, does not mention anything that happened in Secret Invasion, and the events don’t seem to have an impact on Fury, at least not one that’s been actively explored.
