Dracula by Bram Stoker has had many adaptations over the decades, and now Amazon Prime Video brings us its latest version to Spain for the first time.

Since its release in the United States in the summer of last year, The last voyage of Demeter has been on the radar of the horror-loving audience, but the film stopped making headlines after arriving in theaters on the other side of the pond and we were left without news about it and its premiere in Spain until now, which arrives on Amazon Prime Video.

The last voyage of Demeter finally confirms release date in Spain for the next one Friday July 12, in just a couple of weeks. The bad thing is that it won’t go through theaters first, the good thing is that it will be incorporated directly into the Amazon Prime Video catalog to give you a scary weekend.

The film, directed by André Ovredaland with Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi and Liam Cunningham leading the cast, takes as inspiration the novel by Dracula of Bram Stokerbut it does so in a peculiar way.

Instead of adapting the entire book, The last voyage of Demeter focuses on a single chapter of it: Captain’s Logthat is to say Logbook. It details the strange events that took place aboard the Russian schooner Demeter on his journey from Carpathia to London.

The Demeter schooner was to transport a private cargo of 24 unmarked wooden crates to its destination. You already know who is hiding in them, but the crew must face the mysterious figure who stalks them every night and complicates their journey.

The last voyage of Demeter arrives at Amazon Prime Video after having received a mostly unfavorable reception from critics, with media ensuring that it “fails to capture what is scary” or that, despite its good approach, it ends up becoming “something inert and confusing” .
