Eric Adams on MANOWAR’s re-recording of “Sign Of The Hammer”: “Different and live”

The classic album by the Heavy Metal band turns 40 years old

American Heavy Metal group MANOWAR is re-recording his classic “Sign Of The Hammer” on the new review “Sign Of The Hammer 2024”. The singer Eric Adams The bassist has given the keys to the course of the recording and the creative process Joey DeMaio.

The vocalist considers:

“Recording ‘Sign Of The Hammer’ has been a blast. When we first talked about it I thought, well, this It’s not going to be the easiest thing in the world. because people know the album, people know the songs and Joey and I sat down and listened to them and said, well, what do we need in this song and what we don’t need, and we review each section of the topic.

I think the fans are really going to appreciate it because as far as I’m concerned It’s like making a whole new album.you know, the endings might be a little different, the way I sing might be a little different…

We sang a lot of these songs from ‘Sign Of The Hammer’ live and I’m used to singing them like that. When I’m in the studio singing I have my eyes closed and I’m on stage. When you play these songs live many times you do magic.

We start’animals‘ live. I told Joey that I was going to give a rhythm to the scream, so when you hear this rhythm count like 1, 2, 3, 4, and then go into 5 and I did my scream with the audience that goes and comes back, goes and comes back, and then everyone comes in and it’s perfect. It’s exciting to hear that this is how the song on the new album begins now.

But what’s really cool is the way we recorded this. Other bands today record the same way, usually the drums will play first; when it is finished, the bass plays its part; When he has finished the guitarist comes in and plays his part; and then any overdubbing like maybe would happen after keyboards. And at the end of the day the singer does his part.

We’re used to playing live and you can’t get that live feel when you record one at a time, so we decided to record liveand we were all excited about it, and boy does it show, man, It shows that the group is united, and when I say stitched together I mean that on some of the songs you’re listening to there are no overdubs, there’s nothing, it’s just that way, and it sounds amazing. “I’m very proud of the album.”

Adams then responds about the “Sign Of The Hammer” symbol (joining hands crossed in the air) identifying MANOWAR fans:

“Years ago Paul Clark, who was our road manager, said we had to come out with something that the fans recognized MANOWAR without even saying the name and that idea occurred to him. So we start on stage and spread like wildfire and it was amazing. So when I go out on stage at the end of the night, when Joey has his hands up and everyone in the audience has his hands up, with both fists in the air, It’s more than just MANOWARis more than just the hammer sign: It is the power, that you know that I am going to help you in your struggles, as a friend, as a brother of Metal. “That’s what the song is about.”

Sign Of The Hammer 2024” will be released at the end of this year, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of this classic work of the MANOWAR discography.

The group had previously stated about this re-recorded version:

“What you will receive is the brutality of the first release, mixed with the inspiration you have given us over the years and enhanced with the latest technology. ‘The Sign Of The Hammer 2024’ will blow up the floor and melt your faces with more intensity and volume than ever, delivering ultimate Metal!”

On the other hand, MANOWAR exhausted its first concert in the United States in a decade. It will be held on November 30, 2024 at the Kings Theater in Brooklyn, New York, and will coincide with the anniversary of the album “Sign Of The Hammer.”

Additionally, the Heavy Metal group is working on a new studio album.

The band released a new song, “Laut Und Hart Stark Und Schnell”dedicated to his german fans. It was the group’s first song with their new guitarist, Michael Angelo Batio.

The formation stated that the epic of their next album has been contained by the death of its narrator. The band’s latest release is the EP “Highlights From The Revenge Of Odysseus”.
