The design is a cross with a spade – from the poker deck – in the center. The tattoo was done Corey Miller.

“Greetings to my friend and inspiration, Mr. Lemmy Kilmister. Without him, there would be no Metallica.. Black ink mixed with a pinch of his cremation ashes that were so graciously given to me,” reads Metallica’s message that accompanied the photograph on Instagram.

For his part, tattoo artist Corey Miller also shared the photograph and accompanied it with the following message:

“I was with my friend James from Metallica last weekend and I had the honor of giving him this cool tribute/commemorative tattoo… We put some of Lemmy’s ashes in it.…If that’s not Metal…you can kiss my ass.”

Metallica is currently on a world tour to promote their most recent album “72 seasons,” and on social media they have shared small fragments of their live performances.

Motörhead emerged in the United Kingdom in the 70s, while Metallica emerged in the 80s in California, United States; however, both metal bands grew simultaneously and they were gaining popularity in parallel.

The members of the groups forged a great friendship.
