Supersubmarine reappears publicly in ‘La Resistencia’: before and after its tragic accident

Supersubmarine It is part of the history of music in Spain. An indie rock band born in Baeza (Jaén), which returns to the public sphere after having suffered one of the hardest blows in the lives of its members, José Chino, Jaime, Pope and Juanca.

Four artists who this Tuesday will take to the stage again, this time being ‘The resistance’where they will talk about their past, their present and their future, including ‘Something that serves as light’, the book written by the journalist Fernando Navarro and in which he collects the testimony of the members of the band about their history.

A story of improvement

A story that began in the year 2005, when the four artists began playing together purely for fun. Now, everything changes over the years, when they discover that this hobby can become what it became, one of the most famous groups on the national scene.

In 2008, his first EP, ‘Cientocero’, was released.composed by themselves, and which gives way to its homonymous title, ‘Supersubmarine‘. Success began to knock on their door, and that led them precisely to sign with Sony Music discographywhich helps them release their first album, ‘Electroviral‘. A step that allows them to share the stage with other famous groups such as Pereza, Vetusta Morla, Sidecars or Russian Red, among others.

The band was on the crest of the wave, and in a matter of just over a year they released ‘Feedback‘ and ‘Santa Cruz‘, two new albums. And, meanwhile, they are awarded at the ‘Cuchara de Palo 2011’ National Awards.

In 2014, and between festivals and concert tours, they released ‘Head wind’his new album, and the last one before his tragic accident occurred.

On August 14, 2016, on what was going to be a new tour to promote his album, The band suffers a serious traffic accident in which all its members end up in the hospital.. Fortunately, they all manage to leave the ICU, Juanca being the last on September 29, 2016.

Eight years later, the band reunites again. They already reappeared publicly at the presentation of the book ‘Something that serves as light’, in Madrid. However, it is now, on television, and in front of David Broncano, when the famous band reappears in front of its large audience, those who can watch it from the theater, on television, or from any device with Internet access.

A return to the public sphere thanks to Fernando Navarro’s book, which has also made them open up more to each other: “We are very friends, we tell each other everything, but We have learned many things from the testimonies in this book and the truth is that it was quite hard.”Pope pointed out at the presentation of the book.

A very hard episode, which “leaves you quite shaken”, according to Jaime, but which ended up being “healing”: “We have talked a lot among ourselves again and in that sense it has been healing”.
