The tenth edition of the Pulsar Awards, the most important award in Chilean music, is already in full swing, after during this day its organizers discovered the long-awaited list of nominees, from which the winners will emerge and will be announced in a ceremony that will take place next Thursday, June 6.
Almost twenty categories have already defined the categories of those who will go for a Pulsar, in which names with more than one figure stand out, thus positioning themselves as protagonists of this first milestone. This is the case of Francisca Valenzuela, who will go for the statuette for Best Pop Artist and Recording of the Year, thanks to the album Adentro, while her single “Where do you cry when you cry?” will seek to rise as Song of the Year. Álex Anwandter also appears in two of these categories, whose album El Diablo en el Cuerpo will compete in the pop section, while the single “Mi vida en llamas” is also in Song of the Year.
In that last category are also Los Bunkers and Mon Laferte, with the songs “Rey” and “Tenochtitlán”, respectively. Both artists also earned nominations with their albums Noviembre and Autopoietica, in the Best Rock Artist and Best Singer-songwriter or Singer-songwriter categories. Meanwhile, musician Camilo Salinas received two nominations, although with one caveat: Both were in the same category, Best Music for Audiovisuals, which he reached with his work for the productions “Los Mil Días de Allende” and “Papá al Rescate.” ”.
“We are very excited after revealing this impressive list of artists who will go to the 2024 Pulsar Awards, which includes some of the biggest stars of recent times in our country, many also with recognized international reach. We are also happy because with this milestone we begin the countdown towards our tenth edition, a special number that reflects a consolidation. Today, with great satisfaction, we see that the Pulsar are definitely the most important award in Chilean music, something we owe to the tenacity with which we work, but also to the communion with the artists, the audience and the music ecosystem in general. ”said Rodrigo Osorio, president of SCD, after the announcement, the entity that has organized the awards since 2015.
The winners of the 2024 edition will be announced on June 6 starting at 10:00 p.m., in a ceremony that will take place in the TVN studios and will be broadcast live on the state channel. There it will be discovered who will win the Pulsar in categories as important as Pop, where in addition to the aforementioned Valenzuela and Anwandter, figures such as Cami (with her production Anna Vol.1 Los Amantes), Cancamusa (for Amor Minimal) and the 2023 winner Cristóbal Briceño, who this time applies with his work Aurora.
The Rock category, meanwhile, sees Los Bunkers debut at the awards, who had completed their previous stage as a group before the first edition of the Pulsar. In this way, the Penquistas will seek the statuette against artists such as Adelaida, Chini.png, Kuervos del Sur and Matorral.
As has been happening in recent years, it is expected that in 2024 Best Urban Music Artist will once again be one of the categories that attracts the most attention. There the quina was made up of figures such as Akriila (with its production 001), Flor de Rap (with 33), La Brígida Orquesta (Music for the Immense Minority), Movimiento Original (Sobre el Aire) and Pablo Chill-E (El Duende Green).
But Song of the Year will undoubtedly be one of the categories that attracts the most attention, thanks to the coincidence of some of the most international and applauded figures of recent times in our country. This is because the aforementioned Álex Anwandter, Francisca Valenzuela, Los Bunkers and Mon Laferte are also joined by the winners of the Viña del Mar 2023 Festival Yorka, who with the song “Volar” will seek to win the same statuette that they won in 2022 thanks to the single “Wind”.
Along with the discovery of the nominees, Pulsar Awards 2024 also opened voting to determine who wins one of the most coveted awards, that of Audience Artist, defined by the audience itself through popular voting. After this milestone, in addition, the jury for the Album of the Year category will be formed, who will decide the five nominees from among all those who appear in the selections announced today.
