Free dollars all traded sharply downwards this Friday. In this way, they corrected part of the strong rise of the previous days. However, the week closed with increases of between 9% and 12% in the different prices.

The blue dollar was the one that registered the sharpest decline. It gave up 60 pesos to close the week at $1,220 for sale. The marginal currency, which yesterday hit the nominal record of $1,300, ended the week with a rise of $100 or 9%.

With an adjustment of the wholesale dollar of fifty cents to end the week at $890.50, the exchange gap was adjusted to 37%. So far in May, the parallel currency has appreciated 17.3% ($180).

In the case of financial dollars, they also corrected but to a lesser extent. The Mep dollar fell almost $28 to close the week at $1,206.42, while the cash with settlement did the same at $22.65 to settle at $1,233.59 and once again be the most expensive free exchange rate on the market above the blue.

However, during the week they closed increases of $135 (12.6%) in the Mep dollar and $129.5 (11.73%) in the Cash with Settlement.

With the adjustment of financial institutions at a faster rate than the blue, the quotes were compressed into a 27 peso difference between the cheapest, the Mep, and the most expensive, the cash with settlement.

The blue was in the middle of both.

The value of the bill in Banco Nación is $909.50 and in the average of the banks it is $931.78.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank closed a new week with net purchases in the currency market.

This Friday, with a negotiated volume in the market segment of $343 million, above the last few days but far from the volume expected for this time, the monetary authority obtained $117 million.

Thus, in the week it bought US$ 550 million, in May it accumulated US$ 2,407 million and since December 2023 it totals US$ 17,131 million.

As a consequence, the Central’s gross reserves increased US$105 million to US$29,113 million.
