Madonna has responded to a class action lawsuit for which her own fans accuse her of starting concerts late. The singer has defended herself by saying that her “real” fans know that she “always” goes on stage “long after the scheduled start time,” according to TMZ, which has had access to the legal documents.

The singer, according to those documents, claims that her fans understand how her concerts work and know that she is late, adding that the time printed on the concert tickets “is not an indication of when she will actually take the stage.”

The lawsuit has been filed by a man named Michael Fellows, who criticizes that Madonna began one of her concerts in New York last December, on her international tour ‘The Celebration Tour’, two hours after the scheduled time. The entries stated that she would start at 8:30 p.m.but it started after 10:30 p.m..

Madonna justifies her delays

“If a fan is familiar enough with the history of my concerts to know that performances last two hours and fifteen minutes, that fan will surely know that Madonna usually takes the stage well after the listed event time (after an opening act, stage transition, etc.) and plays late into the night,” the singer has defended, according to the legal documents.
