After 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday, the Plaza del Congreso de la Nación became a battlefield: while the senators debated on the floor the Base Law and the fiscal packageoutside the security forces clashed with protesters who were protesting the treatment of the initiatives promoted by the Executive. And it was in the midst of the constant riots that a group of picketers a Cadena 3 radio car set on fire in which there was a journalist on board.
Is about Orlando Morales, who experienced the attack on the vehicle firsthand. An episode that was recorded by the dozens of television cameras that broadcast the demonstration live in the vicinity of Parliament.
Moments after the event, the chronicler it goes out to air in the program “Long live the radio” of the aforementioned Cordoba environment and told, without being able to contain his anguish, how was the moment in which the Protestants got on top of the vehicle to vandalize it.
“I can’t believe it. Sons of a thousand bitches. They hit me. I was going to take out my cell phone and they turned it over to me. “You can’t believe it,” the man began, still shocked by what had just happened.
While the drivers from the ground asked the journalist to calm down, Morales could not hide his anger and sadness at the situation and responded: “No, how calm. These are the misfits. These are scoundrels, scoundrels. On top of that I was on top of the cell phone. They took me by one arm, threw me to the ground, turned it over and burned it. It can not be believed”.
The chronicler continued his defense in a state of shock from the Plaza de los Dos Congresos and stressed that what happened “it is not democracy”. That’s when she couldn’t hold back her tears and burst into tears.
“I am so distraught, “I am so distraught, I am so distraught,” repeated the journalist who was injured during the protest. And he added regretfully: “This is not the country I want for my children, I tell you the truth. “I don’t want this for my children, it can’t be.”
In this sense, he pointed out that “there cannot be such evil people” and said that in the country we need to talk and dialogue to solve things, but not carry out acts of this style.
Finally, the journalist concluded: “I have been on the street since 1992 and this has never happened to me. It happened to me, but it could have happened to anyone. It’s distressing.” Morales, according to his colleagues, had to be treated by SAME due to the injuries he suffered during the episode.
The incident broke out after 4:30 p.m., when some of the protesters who were in the area They approached the vehicle to vandalize it within the framework of the incidents that broke out with the police officers participating in the operation.
Everything was recorded by the cameras that were transmitting in the area, which captured the moment in which the picketers began to hit the car, then they turned it over and finally began to set it on fire. The flames spread to all parts in a few minutes and the vehicle was set on fire in the middle of one of the streets.
Consequently, a large column of black smoke in the vicinity of Congress and a hydrant truck who arrived at the scene quickly to try to put out the fire and avoid any more dangerous episode. However, although they managed to contain the outbreak, after 5 p.m. the fire had not yet been completely consumed.
The vehicle was not the only object set on fire that day: the protesters also lit trash cans and even bicycles of the City of Buenos Aires that were in the vicinity of the Plaza de los Dos Congresos.
