That to the legendary vocalist and bassist Glen Bentonfrom the death metal band Deicidedoes not like the current times too much, he already made it clear to us by stating about metal in 2024 that “All we have is a bunch of guys who look like Weezer wannabes.”. In fact, he also believes that due to social networks the situation has worsened and that “The Internet has turned the world into a pretty stupid place.”.

In an interview for Sense Music Media, Benton He alluded to the fact that social media has exacerbated both lack of education and political polarization. He related it this way: “I think the Internet has turned the world into a pretty stupid place. I think it’s a generational thing, but politicians and religious people have really turned this into a real circus in the last 15 years, man. I think we suffer from a lack of integrity in the world”.

Referring to the fact that people offer their opinions on hot topics and are willing to argue with anyone who disagrees, glen He said: “You can find a fight anywhere in this world right now, man. Everyone is ready to fight. The world is on the edge. That’s the world, with inflation and different world economies, people are angry, man”.

In this aspect, Benton emphasized how this political polarization has led to a greater number of riots in the streets: “I’m preparing for it, because it’s an election year here in the United States. And anything can happen. Any reason will do for destroying property, looting, stealing, rioting and shit like that, people are looking for any reason, man. And I think it’s funded by individuals, because they do it religiously every election year, just to make whoever’s sitting in the White House look bad. It’s a weird thing, man. I try to stay out of politics. But this area, the state of Florida, is a sweaty toilet bowl, and the rest of the country is the bathroom. More or less”.

Deicide recently launched ‘Banished By Sin’, an album with which they returned to their fierce roots. You can get the disk in this link.
