University of Chile will face Sports Iquique far from the Metropolitan Region. Given the impossibility of using the National Stadium, the blues will move to Concepción, a city that during these days is experiencing a real downpour with the rains. Nature hits everyone equally, even football.
This was demonstrated with the curious moment that was experienced at the Ester Roa Rebolledo Stadium, which will host the duel between the U and Iquique. In the middle of the match between Fernández Vial and General Velásquez for the Second Division tournament, the substitute bench collapsed.
Yes, it unexpectedly fell. Fortunately, the substitutes for the black and gold team were just preparing to return to their seats, so the incident did not end in major damage. The curious? The players themselves, in the company of the coaching staff, helped raise the structure.
And rain is abundant in the Biobío Region. This will have to be considered by Gustavo Álvarez’s coaching staff: the rainfall will last until early Sunday morning. Surely, the playing field will be soapier than usual.
Obligatory departure for the University of Chile
It should be noted that the U will leave Santiago due to the work on the grass of the National Stadium. After the various concerts that took place in the country’s main sports venue, the IND decided to intervene on the playing field.
When will the blues return? In the University Classic against UC. After the duel against Iquique, the blues will travel to the Valparaíso Region to face Unión La Calera. The match against the archrival from the foothills is scheduled for May 18.
When does the U play?
The U’s next game will be against Deportes Iquique on Sunday, May 5. It will be played from 3:00 p.m. at the Ester Roa Rebolledo Stadium in Concepción.
