Bad Bunny and his “cow hooves” at the Met Gala 2024: this is the millionaire value of the shoes worn by the singer at the event

The most anticipated day for all fashion lovers in the world has arrived, since this Monday, May 6, in New York, the long-awaited Met Gala 2024. And without a doubt, one of the most anticipated celebrities of the night is the urban artist of the moment: Bad Bunny.

Although this is not the Puerto Rican’s first time at the “Fashion Oscars”, we only need to remember his talked about 2023 look in honor of Karl Lagerfeld, this year the presence of the bad rabbit is special, since the singer is one of the hosts of the night next to Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Hemsworth.

This 2024, the Costume Institute’s new exhibition is titled “Sleeping beauties: Awakening of fashion”. According to one of the organizers, Voguethe display will feature approximately 250 rare items drawn from the permanent collection.

Spanning more than 400 years of fashion history, the pieces will include designs from Schiaparelli, Dior, Givenchy and more. Some garments that are too fragile to be reworn, such as a Charles Frederick Worth ball gown from 1877, will also be displayed using video animation, light projection, AI, CGI and other forms of sensory stimulation.

Meanwhile, the dress code for this year’s Met Gala 2024 is “The garden of time”. Inspired by JG Ballard’s short story of the same title, written in 1962, can be interpreted in countless ways.

Under that theme, Bad Bunny surprised everyone with a two-piece suit from the Alta Moda brand, Masion Margiela, directed by the British John Galiano. The navy blue look, accompanied by pants with red stripes, also had the detail of leaving the white thread stitches visible, with the aim of showing the sewing work behind the look.

The proposal, in line with the theme of the night, was complemented with a voluminous hat in combination with the blue of the suit, and also black gloves that held a bouquet of flowers of the same color. Added to that were diamond-shaped glasses.

However, one of the things that caught the most attention were the shoes chosen by Bad Bunny for the Met Gala 2024. The reggaeton singer, in line with the brand that visited him for the night, chose the iconic model tabi by Margiela for the big night of fashion.

The iconic tabi

Bad Bunny’s Tabi shoes are not new in the world of fashion. They appeared for the first time in 1988, and since then they have not stopped making people talk. Created from the mixture of human parts and creature parts, this design is the epitome of creativity.

According to Vogue, “the idea for the shoe was not original to Margiela (she often sought inspiration elsewhere, deconstructing and reconstructing pre-existing forms), but it remains a status symbol for stylish people. Actually, The origin of the Tabi dates back to 15th century Japanwhere open-toed socks were believed to promote holistic and physical balance.”

By becoming such an iconic object in the world of fashion, the Tabi has achieved a high price in the market. Specifically, according to the Margiela website, the basic model of this design ranges from the 790 euros (about 791,314 Chilean pesos) until 6,500 euros (about 6,510,811 Chilean pesos). However, the price of the Tabi may increase if we are talking about archival or custom-designed pieces like those by Bad Bunny for the Met Gala 2024.
