The day for Cuban Son Day, fourth edition, begins today in the capital’s Cuba Pavilion, to extend its actions until next May 12 and is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of Miguel Matamoros, the 60th anniversary of the Original orchestra of Manzanillo and its leader Pachy Naranjo.
The Havana Citizen Portal specifies that the start of the event will be marked by a panel on Miguel Matamoros, scheduled for 2:00 in the afternoon at the Salón de Mayo, moderated by musicologist and researcher Nerys González Bello.
According to the website, the space De la trova al son will take place, with Diego Cano and his peña Signes. Likewise, the group Chispa y Los Cómplices will make attendees dance on the central stage of the venue.
At 4:00 in the afternoon of the next day, La Pérgola will host the group América and at 5:00 pm on the central stage the space Hoy como ayer will be presented, by Artex.
On the 10th at 1:00 in the afternoon the panel tribute to the Original de Manzanillo and its director, Pachi Naranjo, will take place. Later, the A Granel Concert will take place, with the winners of the Ignacio Villa 2023 Scholarship, and La Original de Manzanillo.
During the following days, and until the 12th, actions in tribute to the Cuban Son and its main cultists will continue.
