Three people died from influenza type A have been reported in the last 24 hours in the Ñuble region. The latest fatality is a 55 year old womanwho died at midnight on Tuesday as a result of septic shock with pulmonary focus, caused by the virus.

This last case would be added to the death of a 6 year old girl in San Nicolás and that of a 20 year old young man who was admitted to the Herminda Martín Hospital in Chillán, both for the same condition.

As detailed on Radio Biobío, the family of the 55-year-old woman reported medical negligence, since last Saturday, May 18, she went to the SAR Violeta Parra, from where ““She was sent home without prior tests and with a prescription for paracetamol and ibuprofen.”

Later that same day, the woman began to feel severe lung pain and was taken to the Chillán Hospital, where She was sent home again..

It was not until Monday the 20th that the woman was admitted to the emergency room, where she was diagnosed with influenza and despite efforts to stabilize her, she died on Tuesday.

After the serious cases in the region became known, the governor of ÑubleÓscar Crisóstomo, requested to declare a health emergency in the area and also to advance the winter holidays, among other measures.
