The Government, in the voice of the Minister of the Interior (s), Manuel Monsalvecompletely ruled out bringing forward the winter holidays.
This was stated during a press conference in which he detailed support measures for those affected by the frontal system, after the Disaster Risk Management Committee (Cogrid).
“The measures have to be relevant. Vacations are something that all families in Chile plan for”Monsalve explained.
He added, along those lines, that many working parents schedule this date in advance to be able to spend time with their children.
Change the date of the winter holidays, commented therefore, would not be justified.
Likewise, the situation of educational facilities affected by rainfall and winds will be monitored; and also of students who cannot attend classes due to problems in their homes.
It is worth remembering that the Ministry of Education (Mineduc) announced that holders may request, exceptionally and with recovery, the suspension of classes in establishments damaged by recent rains.
The ministerial secretaries of Education of the regions of Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitana, O’Higgins, Maule, Ñuble, Bío Bío, La Araucanía and Los Ríos may authorize the suspension of classes for the week of June 17.
