Mexico conquers the World Cup in archery and qualifies for Paris 2024

The team was made up of Matías Grande, Javier Rojas and Bruno Martínez

The Mexican men’s team won gold in the Archery World Cup that took place in Antalya, Turkey, after they beat the Chinese Taipei team and qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Mexican team made up of Matías Grande, Javier Rojas and Bruno Martínez obtained the Olympic place for the summer games after a great demonstration in the World Cup final, where Rojas hung the last 10 with his arrow and thus beat the Asians.

Along the way they beat Spain, India, Great Britain and in the grand final against China-Taipei, which is one of the favorite teams in the world and one of those that puts up the most fights on the big stages.

“We were very focused on our work, we lived in the present and focused on the dates we were going to throw,” Rojas said at the end of the event. “We went to win it with all the attitude and there is the result,” Martínez added.

“We worked well, we knew that the result could be given from Colombia. We work hard. We don’t throw in the towel, we move forward and at a level of confidence we are going to work on it the same. We are a strong team and we can prove it,” Grande said after winning the gold medal.

With the ticket to the Olympic Games, more elements are added to the Mexican delegation that will attend Paris 2024. In the women’s part, Alejandra Valencia, Ángela Ruiz and Paula Vázquez already had their ticket in the same discipline both as a team and individually, while Grande was the only one qualified individually.

“With Arrows to Paris 2024! The Mexican men’s recurve archery team obtained its Olympic place for Paris 2024 by reaching the final of the Pre-Olympic Championship in Antalya, Turkey,” the Mexican Olympic Committee wrote on its X account, formerly Twitter, to congratulate the Mexican archers.
