CHICAGO — Shohei Ohtani led off the game with a home run and broke the tie with a single, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.

Led by Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, the Dodgers won for the seventh time in nine games. The NL West leaders are 50-31 halfway through their season.

Ohtani found a curveball from Chris Flexen (2-7) and placed the ball in the bullpen, between right and center field, to reach 24 home runs, which leads the National League. Right fielder Tommy Pham tried to catch the ball with a leap but was unable to do so.

The Japanese also walked and scored on Freeman’s two-run homer in the third inning. He batted again in the fourth and gave Los Angeles a 4-3 lead with a two-out RBI single.

For the Dodgers, the Cubans Andy Pagés 4-0, Miguel Vargas 2-1. Venezuelan Miguel Rojas 3-0.

For the White Sox, Cuban Luis Robert Jr. was 1-for-5 with one run scored. Dominican Eloy Jiménez was 1 for 5 with an RBI. Venezuelan Lenyn Sosa 4-0.
