Curicó exceeded 85% vaccination against Influenza thanks to constant work on the ground – Municipality of Curicó

Since March, the Municipal Health teams have been mobilized throughout the commune, to provide coverage to the target groups arranged by the Minsal.

Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign against Influenza in Curicó, the Municipal Health teams were deployed in the various corners of the commune to achieve the final objective, immunize the target population, mainly, older adults, boys and girls, pregnant women and chronically ill people.

For his part, the Mayor of Curicó, Javier Muñoz, called on the residents of the commune to go to the vaccination centers, where for more than two months, the vaccine has been available for those who need it.

The Community Health Director of Curicó, Nelson Gutiérrez, referred to the work and dedication of the teams and maintained that “the progress was significant thanks to the work of the health department teams and each of the CESFAMs that toured the different schools, senior centers, we were in the malls, we were also in the plaza, at different points, even visiting companies with the desire to have good coverage.”

“We can say that according to the latest report from the ministry, we are almost at 87% of the vaccinated population in the target population, that means 77,500 vaccines,” added Gutiérrez.

THERE IS STILL TIME TO GET VACCINED

Nelson Gutiérrez also called on people who have not yet been vaccinated to attend the CESFAM vaccinations and explained that The people who can be vaccinated “by regulations from the ministry, are those people over 60 years of age, chronically ill, especially pregnant women, fifth grade schoolchildren onwards, which is a very small population that we have left because we have traveled two or three times the different schools, the call is for them to attend our centers, there are vaccines available and also, on the other hand, to take great care of themselves during the winter period.”

Finally, the Communal Director of Health stated that “we know that we have not reached the peak period of Influenza, that means maintaining care in the use of masks, closed spaces, if there is a family member who has influenza or a cold, they should use a mask to “Avoid infecting the rest of the groups and ventilate the houses.”
