A detainee BROKE, attempted SUICIDE and asked to STATE

In case of Loan Danilo Peña, the 5-year-old boy who disappeared in an orange field in the Corrientes town of 9 de Julio on June 13, continues to plunge the entire province and much of the country into a feeling of shock. This Tuesday, a new episode was added to the cause, and that is that one of the detainees tried to commit suicide.

This is Carlos Pérez, the former Navy captain who was arrested with his wife on Friday. According to what was indicated by Clarín, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, after Pérez was transferred from the 9 de Julio police station to the sixth section of Goya.

There, the accused tried to hang himself with a shoelace, but he was seen by one of the uniformed men, who thwarted his idea. After this, Pérez broke down and asked to testify in court, in exchange for having an abbreviated trial. Now, the former Navy captain is expected to be questioned again during the day this Monday.

The situation of Carlos Pérez

Carlos Pérez is one of those arrested for the disappearance of little Loan Peña. The former soldier was arrested last Friday along with his wife Cristina Caillava, who works as a municipal official. The couple was present at the child’s last lunch and is now accused of allegedly being responsible for transporting him from Corrientes to Chaco.

In the midst of the investigation, Justice ordered a series of raids on two homes located in the Chaco city of Resistencia, an order that was carried out this Sunday. During the procedure, investigators concluded that the detainees were in one of the searched apartments on Friday, June 14 or Saturday, June 15, shortly after Loan’s disappearance.

During the procedure in the aforementioned property, the agents found weapons and ammunition. Furthermore, the Chaco press claims that Pérez and Caillava entered the building’s parking lot with their red Ford Ka, a car in which the dogs sniffed out traces of the little boy.

According to the authorities, that apartment has been rented for a year by the former Navy captain. Pérez has a daughter in Resistencia, which is why he uses that address to stay every time he goes to visit her.

The search for Loan: the last photo of the boy before he disappeared

This Thursday a new image of the little boy was revealed that could be key to the investigation, and it shows how Loan was dressed on the day of his disappearance.

According to TN, the photograph corresponds to the last lunch that the little boy shared with his relatives at his grandmother’s house. In the photo, Loan is seen wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt. Additionally, the child is wearing a gray/light blue cap with a red border in the visor area.
