Who was Alex Araya, the Chilean actor who died for using Tinder in Medellín

He was allegedly intoxicated with burundanga with two women he met on the app. The money from the robbery may have been used to buy million-dollar jewelry.

Alex Araya, turned out to be the Chilean actor who died in Medellín, an artist who had started with theater but currently worked as a lighting technician at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center in Santiago.

The 42-year-old Chilean citizen had arrived a few days ago in the capital of Antioquia, where the main theory that the authorities use is that he would have met two women through the Tinder application who would have given him burundanga to rob him. His body appeared half-naked in an apartment rented by the AirBnB application in the Boston neighborhood.

The events would have occurred on June 6, when Araya would have entered with the two women around 11:00 pm and then the security cameras would have recorded them leaving the property alone. The next day a worker knocked on the apartment and got no answer, so she called the manager, who decided to force the door.

That was when the case was reported to the owner of the apartment and then to the city’s Metropolitan Police, who arrived with a doctor as their companion who certified the man’s death hours before.

A neighbor said she saw the two women leaving the property with suitcases. Alex Araya’s documents, cell phone and credit cards were stolen, with the money obtained from all these elements they would have bought jewelry.

At the moment no official statement has been issued about the man’s death, it is only known that his body will be repatriated on June 26.
