The tour of the municipality of Nueva Paz began in the areas of the usufructuary Roberto Domínguez, who tends 33 hectares, dedicated mainly to sweet potatoes.
In the exchange with the producer, Díaz-Canel inquired about the workers’ salary, which is around 500 pesos a day, while recognizing the results that allow them to achieve profits. At the end of 2023, more than 2,900 tons of sweet potatoes were harvested here.
During the tour of agricultural areas, the food industry, and exchange with the people, he expressed: “Producing efficiently is the way.”
On his fifth visit of the year to the territory, the head of State also visited the provincial Meat Company, where the minced meat is made and distributed as part of the basic food basket to children in the regions of Mayabeque and the capital of the country.
The company recently began to implement production chaining with other forms of management, which will allow them to take better advantage of installed capacities and diversify offers.
In dialogue with the local residents, the president commented on the objectives of these visits and called on them to continue looking for alternatives to advance in solving the difficulties.
“The transformation cannot be only structural, it must also be social and spiritual,” he said.
