The representative of the Communist Party of Ecuador (PCE) William Trujillo also read a statement from that political organization that repudiates the coup attempt, an action that they consider promoted by the bourgeois elites, the Pentagon and the military leadership in order to impose a dictatorial model on favor of the United States.
Ambassador Flores thanked the demonstrations of support for her Government and highlighted the attitude of both the Bolivian president, Luis Arce, and the people, who mobilized and prevented a new blow to democracy in their country.
Last Wednesday, former Army commander Juan José Zúñiga and Navy commander Juan Arnez, with hundreds of troops and tanks, occupied the epicenter of political power in Bolivia, Plaza Murillo, for about three hours.
The action was neutralized after Arce swore in the new members of the military high command.
