The exhibition ‘One year in images’ remains faithful to its annual appointment in Cuéllar

As usual, the sample makes a tour of the most significant acts through images during the past year. There is no lack of politics, sport, culture, events, society issues and different photographs of the province, in which their parties stand out. In fact, the two images of Cuéllar that can be seen in the exhibition correspond to their parties, specifically to their proclamation and one of its enclosures.

During the opening ceremony, the commercial manager of El Norte in Segovia, Félix Blanco, highlighted how this sample is an outstanding summary of the hundreds of photographs that are published throughout the year in the newspaper. Captured by the objectives of Antonio de Torre, Antonio Tanarro and Óscar Costa, the images are a memory of some of the news that starred in the informative year in the province of Segovia.

Blanco also pointed out that this is the twenty -seventh edition of the exhibition, although touring the province has been a year. The editions that ‘a year in images’ have come to the province by the Diputación, with the Villa de Cuéllar as a mandatory stop. On this occasion it is the first of a route that will lead to the exhibition to the towns of Riaza and Coca in the coming months, where their neighbors can see this compilation of what was 2024 in the pages of El Norte de Castilla.

The opening ceremony also was attended by the vice president of the Diputación de Segovia and deputy of Culture. José María Bravo stressed that this exhibition not only collects a year in images, but also sensations and different feelings of effort, pain or party. “Those moments that have finally marked the whole year,” he said.

The photograph of a performance by Isabel Aaiún, known for her song ‘Wild Potra’, was one of the most commented. About it made Bravo, remembering that in the Diputación they were the first to bet on her with a concert in Juan Bravo months before she became the summer song. The provincial deputy predicted that Aaiún’s new song will be heard in many of the village festivities that will have their hole in the pages of El Norte de Castilla and in the exhibition next year.

The vice president of the Diputación indicated that in the images the work of many people and a lot of social action in the province is reflected. “It is actually our day to day,” he said. Finally, he encouraged attendees to enjoy the photographs “very slowly, because there are always details that the photographer wants to capture and does not count.”

Mario González, from Caixabank, thanked the Diputación and northern Castilla to have them every year to collaborate in a project that means “another way to participate in the social life of the municipality.” He also influenced that CaixaBank, through his social work, performs different collaborations with different groups in the environment throughout the year. “Cuéllar’s office is very alive,” he said.

The mayor of Cuéllar, Carlos Fraile, closed the opening ceremony in the Alfonsa de la Torre Room, a room ceded by the town hall of the town in which other authorities such as the mayor of Sanchonuño, Carlos Fuentes, and councilors of the City Council of the Villa. Fraile resumed the image of Aaiún as a sample of the “good year in the province from the point of view of culture”, although he also referred to an image of athlete Águeda Marqués, which is specially affected by a link with his mother.

Fraile stressed that the exhibition is “mirror and reflection of what daily life is in our villages” and considered “very positive” that this type of exhibitions continue. For this reason, he thanked Diputación, CaixaBank and the north of Castile for his commitment to the territory.
