Do you have been noticing that your shelf still has for one more book? A tiny volume or comic if we squeeze it among those already? Perfect! Those of us who write to you every in Vidaxtra have very interesting ideas so that you take advantage of that space. Five ideas, in fact. And all are macanudas.

The is the first: Happy Book Day 2025! I am one of those who think that there is no excuse of some kind to give a book, give you a whim or continue that saga that you started reading and, for one thing or another, you left its protagonists in the middle of the problem. Here we do not make distinctions talking about Brandon Sanderson, Akira Toriyama or Francisco Ibáñez.

Because we cannot give a book to each of our readers, we will like, but to share with all of them what has obsessed us and why we are convinced that you will like it. Thus, and as year, where we recommend books and comics essential to read and give away, this April 23 we want to offer you five different suggestions with two denominators in common: we have loved and we are convinced that they will like them.

Alex’s recommendation: the Green bones saga

Fonda Lee Fonda Lee

In recent years I have read many novels and I would say the typical thing that it is not easy to stay alone with one, which is true, but it is also true that there is a saga that was recorded in a special way, so I will go with it. This is the Green bones sagafrom Fonda Lee.

It is an urban fantasy trilogy for adults that starts with Jade Citykeep with Jade And it ends with Jade legacy. It is difficult to meet a trilogy that goes very good to better yet and closes truly , and this is one of them.

It is described as A mixture of the godfather with magic and martial artsand I think I could agree with it in broad strokes. And although there is action, it is not the main thing. The important thing is the characters, the clans, the families and how their relationship evolves over years; His, the one they have with the JADE, the material responsible for granting certain magical powers to the so -called green bones, and with those who swore to protect. I leave you with the synopsis:

“The jade is the soul of Kekon’s island. For centuries, the Kekones have extracted it from the bowels of the earth, they have traded with him, they have stolen and killed by him. Honorable warrior green bones like the Kaul have used it to their magical skills and defend the island of foreign invasions. Now the war has ended and a new generation of the Kaul family From the flourishing capital of Kekon.

In these times of there is no place for ancient traditions. When a powerful drug appears in the streets that allows anyone (even foreigners) to use jade, the growing tension between the Kaul family and its rivals, the Ayt family, explodes and transforms the city into a battlefield. The of this clans war will decide the fate of all the green bones and the future of Kekon herself. “

Alberto’s recommendation: Warhammer 40,000: Krieg, a Korps novel

Alberto Alberto

If I have to recommend a book, it has to be the one who returned me to reading and who has introduced me to the novels of Warhammer 40K. Krieg’s , a Korps novel of Steve Lyons’s death had me hooked for a few weeks and plan to read it once again before moving on to the next one because I think some things left to understand.

It is not an initiation book, because it gives many things for understood, but still I think it is an ideal proposal for anyone who wants to dive into this chaotic and violent universe. And what better way than with Krieg Korps? They are one of the most brutal, resilient and bloodthirsty forces of humanity. For me, they are the Spartans of Warhammer 40K. If you enter the roll and you like the Korps, it will know you very little.

“Krieg is a dead . A thousand five hundred years ago, he declared his independence from the empire of man and paid the price. A loyal soul challenged his traitorous rulers and devastated the planet. From the ashes an army without paragon, forged and tempered in nuclear emerged.

Currently, Krieg’s death korps have signed a kidnapped city-collestly in the perimeter of the system that occupies the Octarius war, in a desperate attempt to ensure the area and stop the innumerable masses of orcs and tyranids that through the empire. The soldiers of the Korps of death are intrepid, ruthless, relentless and unstoppable, even in the course of a war that seems to overcome. How far will they get to get ? Is the story condemned to repeat itself? “

Iván González’s recommendation: Eight Billion Genies

Eight Billion Genies Eight Billion Genies
  • De Charles Soule, Ryan Browne

Being a fan of manga and comics, I want to recommend a that, although it is not entirely , is greatly interesting in my opinion: Eight Billion Genies. The plot is simple but very : from one day to another, the eight billion people in the world have a genius next to them that grants them almost any desire.

With a total of eight chapters, each of them tells what happens around the planet: first the First eight secondsthen the first eight minutes, and so on in each chapter until they reach the Eight centuries. It is quite interesting to see how humanity has different objectives throughout this , with some simply wanting to fly, and others completely changing the climate and even the shape of the earth.

In addition, it is easy to read and goes to what goes from the beginning, does not go with rodeos and presents certain turns that are quite fresh and very fun concepts with respect to some extremely powerful desires.

-

“If you could make a reality a reality, what would you want? What if everyone about the face of the earth could fulfill their desire? That is eight billion people. Eight seconds after the magical geniuses guarantee a desire to each person, the world is transformed forever. And it is only the beginning!

Charles Soule (Inhuman, Daredevil) y Ryan Browne (God Hates Astronauts) offer the most provocative, hilarious, terrifying and emotional work of the year. “

Juan Sanmartín’s recommendation: The mystery of the Paso Diastlov

Juan Juan
  • By Cédric Mayen / Jandro González

The advancement of technology is increasing From the Paso Diastlov.

A of Russian mountaineers enter a snowy zone to be found dead in inexplicable circumstances. The conjunction of unique unknowns, sperm scenarios and the most murky policy of the Soviet Union result in a story that completely catches, but which is reinforced by a recreation of the excellent events thanks to the illustrations of Jandro González.

The value of THE MYSTERY OF PASO DIESTLOV Not only does it reside in narrating, today, dark event, but in providing a cascade of data and opinions of experts in the field about what happened on that night of February 1, 1959.

“On the night of February 1, 1959, the nine members of an expedition of mountaineering disappeared in circumstances in the Paso Diastlov, in the heart of the Urals. They were found a month later, but they were all dead and in various stages of decomposition. The investigation, seriously hindered by the KGB, never showed conclusive and the mystery still continues. What happened that night?”

Frankie MB’s recommendation: to the future, the final visual story

  • De Michael Clastorin
Frankie MB Frankie MB

I love art books and visual guides. I correct: they obsess me. Not only because of the way of enriching what I already like, but because I ended up giving him more readings. Making what was already special even better. That is why I do not get tired of recommending everything, and especially the lovers of cinema and science fiction, the volume of Return to the future, the definitive visual historyby Michael Klastorin and Randal Atamaniuk. It is deliciously exhaustive and is filled with extras and curiosities.

Go ahead that is not a novel or there is a narrative link in this book, but that means you can start reading where you like. Launch yourself fully, as if it were a pool, to those themes that most awaken your curiosity or enjoy it little by little with a good coffee in the afternoon. Losing yourself in their care texts, extras that range from a lenticular version of the mythical photograph of Marty’s family or the poster of Shark 19. What else can be asked?

A single volume that cannot and should not miss any lover of the Trilogy of Delorean and that is not only an impressive reminder of how good it is, but condenses in its 224 what makes it special. And be careful, between its pages there are up to a dollar with the face of the heavy of Biff Tannen. I do not know how much it will be worth if we apply inflation to a currency from an alternative , but that rounds the value of this treasure in the form of a book.

“Few films have left their mark as marked in popular culture as the trilogy back to the future.

This luxury book shows us what happened between Bambalinas and tells us all the details how these films were so enormously popular and how the adventures of Marty McFly and Doc Brown became an international phenomenon. “
