This Tuesday, April 23, the International Book and Copyright Day is celebrated, and Lima commemorates it with a series of free activities To enjoy as a family. Reading marathons, outdoor cinema, creative workshops, contests and book fairs are part of this cultural festival that seeks to revalue reading as a right and pleasure.
This year, the date acquires a special meaning in Peru due to the recent game of the Nobel Prize for Literature Mario Vargas Llosa. In tribute to its legacy, the National Library of Peru (BNP) will organize a reading marathon at its headquarters of Jr. Ucayali. From 3 pm, a microphone will be available at the entrance so that anyone can read aloud fragments of the author’s most representative works.

The little ones will also have their space in this celebration. The BNP prepared a pop-up book workshopwhere girls and boys from 8 to 12 will learn to create three -dimensional and interactive figures. This activity, in charge of the Public Library Station (EBP) team of Comas, promises to stimulate creativity and strengthen the link with reading.
On the other hand, in the Augustinian, the EBP ‘Ricardo Arbulú Vargas’ convened the Sixth Oral Narration Contest Account neighborhood!. In this contest, boys and girls between 8 and 13 years old will tell stories, myths or legends – processes or known authors – before a jury and the audience. All participants will receive recognition and a surprise award.
The cinema also adds to the activities for this important date. The function is part of the ‘Bibliocine’ program and requires prior registration.

On April 23, central day of the celebrations, will concentrate most events. The International Book Day is commemorated every April 23, a symbolic date chosen by coinciding with the death of three great figures of literature: Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare and the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, occurred in 1616.
