Nissan has revealed in the Shaghai hall an electrified version of its frontier pick-up (the American Navara). Despite carrying the “Pro” suffix, this model does not resemble the Frontier Pro-X and Pro-4x that are currently marketed in North America, since the first electrified pick-up of the brand is based on the Nissan Dongfeng Z9 of local production, presented earlier this year.
According to Nissan, it is its first truly plug-in hybrid model, since vehicles equipped with the E-Power system are technically electric with a thermal engine acting as an autonomy extensor.
Nissan Frontier Pro: Dimensions and proportions
This work vehicle has been designed locally in Shanghai’s design study and presents an interrupted front light bar, a stylistic reference to the iconic opening of three Nissan/Datsun D21 Hardbody hood.
On the other hand, in the rear area, a retractable electric back gate will be optionally available. Nissan’s new hybrid pick-up measures 5.520 mm long, 1,960 width and 1,950 tall.

Therefore, it is larger in all its dimensions than the frontier with short body (generation D41) that is currently sold in the United States. The wheelbase is 3,300 mm, while the weight varies from 2,500 to 2,540 kg, according to the chosen configuration. All versions have 18 -inch tires with 265/65 tires.
Propulsion and range system
The Frontier Pro aimed at the Chinese market is propelled by a turbocharged, four -cylinder and 1.5 -liter, combined with an electric motor integrated into the transmission.
The combined power exceeds 402 hp, with a maximum pair of impressive 800 nm. The battery, whose technical details have not been revealed, guarantees an autonomy of up to 135 km, at least according to the CLTC approval cycle of China, notoriously optimistic.

At the technical level, the new frontier combines an independent double fork front suspension with a five -arms rear suspension configuration, and also has an electromechanically controlled rear differential.
Nissan and Dongfeng have equipped the pick-up with total traction with 4HIGH and 4LOW modes selectable manually, as well as specific driving programs: Hybrid and Pure Electric.
Technological interior and comfort
The interior presents the neon yellow tone already seen in other brand models and integrates a 14.6 -inch central touch screen, flanked by an instrumentation of 10 inches for the driver.
Optional equipment includes heated and ventilated front seats with massage function. It also has the vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, which allows to feed external devices through an integrated outlet in the body with a power of up to 6 kW.

Interestingly, the Frontier Pro It will not be Exclusive market chino: Nissan plans to export the pick-up also to other countries. And while in Europe he would be safe from tariffs on Chinese electric, the current context would make his arrival in the United States impossible.
