
The energy company Geopark announced the appointment of Felipe Bayón as his new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and as a member of the Board of Directors, which will be effective on June 1, 2025. This appointment occurs after Andrés Ocampo’s decision to resign for personal reasons, the company said.

Bayón was president of Ecopetrol where he led 18,000 employees, supervised the production of approximately 700,000 barrels of daily oil and revenues of more than 30 billion dollarsand delivered record results in financial, operational and security matters.

Bayón is a mechanical engineer. He began his career in 1991 in Shell, in field operations and projects, and then moved to BP where he worked for 21 years in increasingly important operational roles in Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, USA and the United Kingdom, including its role as CEO of Pan American Energy, one of the main private producers of hydrocarbons from Argentina, from 2005 to 2010.
He was also a member of multiple directories in the sectors of Energy, Public Services, Education and Technology.
