the expedition vehicle with capital letters

If the trip goes beyond the end of the paved roads, vehicles are needed that can do more than normal motorhomes. The Torsus Praetoran Liberra, built by Dämmler Mobile on the basis of the Torsus Praetorian 4×4, is one of those vehicles that combine the worlds of the SUV adventure and the outdoor life.

Praetorian himself has its roots in the transport of passengers through the most difficult land, a solid base that Dämmler Mobile uses to create an “expedition transatlantic” with the Liberra. The motorhome based on a truck, totally integrated, promises the to explore remote corners of the without having to sacrifice comfort.

The spine of the Liberra Praetorian is a TGM 4×4 chassis, for its reliability and robustness in the category of more than 7.5 tons. The vehicle is propelled by a 6 -cylinder diesel engine with 290 hp and a powerful pair of 925 Nm, which permanently transmits its four -wheel power.

With a length of 8.45 meters and a wheelbase of 4.25 meters, the off -road expedition vehicle offers a solid base and remains maneuverable outside the road despite its size. The vehicle height is 3.55 meters, which provides a comfortable of approximately 2.18 to 2.20 meters inside. The gross weight of the vehicle is 13,500 kg.

However, Praetorian shows its true strengths outside the road. Equipped with three differential locks (front axle, rear and central axle), a reducer and a 68 -centimeter wadeing depth, is prepared for the most difficult steps. The 32 degree attack angles at the front and 26 degrees in the rear (output) favor the ascent capacity. An integrated cable winch provides additional security in extreme situations.

The body is based on a robust tubing frame, which is covered with high -resistance GRP modules. According to the manufacturer, a special painting finish that has been tested by the provides additional protection abroad. Praetorian is designed for environments in which normal vehicles reach their limits.

The totally integrated design, without separate cabin, not only creates an open transition from the driving position to the habitable zone, but also contributes to a more driving experience and a overall vision. The behavior of the vehicle is described as stable, even with crossed winds or on irregular roads. This also facilitates driving drivers with less experience in large vehicles.

A special interior feature is the great windows. They guarantee an interior flooded with light and allow impressive views of the surroundings, almost as if the landscape were sitting at the breakfast table. The distribution is functional: in the back there are two longitudinal beds (approx. 208×90 cm and 190×90 cm), which can join to form a double bed.

A compact bathroom with shower and WC separates the bedroom from the front zone. The latter can become a guest bed so that up to four people can spend the night. Four seats are approved for the trip. Dämmler has opted for lasting materials for inner equipment.

The furniture is manufactured with 16 mm multilayer albasia panels with HPL coating, the edges carry robust ABS ribbons and high quality horseshoes of Häfele and Grass are used. Surfaces with solid wood elements create a pleasant atmosphere. Numerous high furniture and a closet offer a lot of storage space.

Technical equipment is designed for comfort and self -service. It is cooked on a gas plate with oven, while a compressor refrigerator keeps cold foods. An air conditioning system on the roof, radiant soil heating and a stationary diesel heating guarantee pleasant temperatures in any climate. The water supply is generously sized, with about 350 liters of fresh water and about 150 liters of wastewater.

The electrical system is based on Victron Energy components, including two Lifepo4 batteries of 25.6 v/200 AH, a combined Easysolar II unit of 3000 W (investor/loader) and a 100 A load amplifier to load the trip. A 5 kg gas bottle feeds the cooking plate.

The Torsus Liberra will be manufactured in small series by Dämmler in Germany after the delivery of the Basic Torsus vehicle in the Czech Republic at a of 550,000 euros plus VAT. This production method allows a certain degree of standardization thanks to modular construction, but also offers margin for individual adaptations in terms of equipment and design according to customer requirements.

The off -road expedition vehicle market is growing, and Torsus Liberra is positioned here as a concept based on a truck fully integrated with robust MAN technology. Those who seek alternatives can resort to vehicles such as Sherpa Xle of Hunter RMV or Sherpa 4×4, built on an Iveco Daily chassis.
