The president of the United States, Donald Trump, revealed that he recently learned that there are less than 24 hostages alive held by Hamás Gaza: “From 59, 24 were still alive, and now I understand that it is not even that figure,” he said an event of the National Prayer Day in the White House.

For months, Israel said he believed that 24 of the 59 hostages were alive, until three days ago the wife of Prime Benjamin Netanyahu, Sara, interrupted him in a public event to affirm that the number was less than the officer.

The prime minister replied that there were “up to 24” living hostages.

Meanwhile, Israel continues with its attacks against the strip, which in the hours caused the of at least 31 people, according to the Jazeera . The last attack by the Israeli army occurred against the Bureij refugee camp, where five people died.

On the other hand, the Red Cross warned today that the humanitarian response in Gaza is “on the edge of the total collapse”, given the blockade of the aid imposed by Israel.

“If humanitarian aid is not immediately resumed, the Red Cross Committee will no longer have food, medicines or essential items to continue many of its programs in Gaza,” says a CICR statement published today in Geneva.

Six weeks of intense hostilities, combined with two months of total blocking of humanitarian aid, have deprived civilians of the necessary means to survive, adds the statement.

This circumstance caused a call from the European Union to Israel to allow the entry of humanitarian aid.

“We are extremely concerned about reports on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, which suggest that food supplies that arrived during the top are being exhausted, and we remember that, according to international humanitarian law, humanitarian aid must reach civilians in need,” said a spokesman for the European Commission.

The spokesman reiterated the EU call to Israel “to the blockade to Gaza and allow humanitarian aid to to flow on a large scale towards the Gaza Strip.”
