The United States confirmed the exit of the of five asylums opposed to the Chavista regime at the Argentine Embassy in Caracas on Tuesday. The US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, said that the rescue of all the asylees was “successful” and commented on the X network that “the hostages that were retained by the government of Nicolás Maduro.” Rubio reported that the group is already safe in American territory.

“After a precise operation, all hostages are safe on American soil,” he announced in his X but without revealing details about the operation.

In his message, Rubio denounced the Maduro government as an “illegitimate regime” that has “undermined Venezuela’s institutions, has violated rights and has put our regional security in danger.”

Rubio said that the transfer of Venezuelan opponents was completed thanks to a “precise operation” and expressed “their gratitude” to “all the personnel involved in this operation” and the “partners who contributed to the safe release of these Venezuelan heroes.”

The opposition leader María Corina Machado applauded the of the operation, which she described as “impeccable and epic.”
