SANTIAGO. – An inmate sentenced to 30 years in prison for murder escaped this Friday from the Rafey Men’s correction and rehabilitation center, located in Santiago, generating alarm between the authorities and the population.
The fugitive has been identified as José Félix García Núñez, who served a long condemnation for homicide. So far, the precise details about how it managed to evade the security controls of the enclosure is unknown, which is part of the new penitentiary model implemented in the country.
After knowing the escape, the authorities activated a wide search operation that involves various military institutions, with the aim of capturing the inmate and returning it to the penitentiary center.
