
Less than a week after the funeral of Ana María Pizarro, the main suspect of his homicide and dismembling in La Serena, José Alejandro Medina Slope, managed to be captured in Carabobo, Venezuela. Specified procedure thanks to the coordination between the Chilean Investigation Police (PDI), Interpol and the Venezuelan police authorities.
The details of the procedure that ended with the arrest of the subject in his native country were released this Sunday by the police authorities and the regional presidential delegate of Coquimbo, Galo Luna, at a press conference.
In the first place, the Inspector Prefect, Ernesto León, head of the Police Region of the PDI Coquimbo, said that around 15 hours on Saturday, Interpol Caracas issued a statement, making known the arrest of a subject with the commission of the Interpol Chile office.
“This person is individualized here in Chile, such as José Medina Ladera, a 49 -year -old subject, that it would be the material author of Mrs. Ana María Pizarro “he detailed.
With regard to whether Medina was hidden and in the company of friends or family, León said that “we have a history that he was wandering. He was controlled and matched the commission of the blue discussion, for which he was retained by the police and, subsequently, informed of these antecedents to Chile. The red discussion was managed to be arrested for the crime that is being investigated”.
Regarding Medina’s departure from Chile, the Prefect revealed that “we have a history that it would have come out for a non -enabled step.”
Extradition
For his part, the Regional Prosecutor (s), Eduardo Yánez, indicated that “once we receive the official report of this news, we will ask for the respective extradition.”
when consulted by Medina’s relationship with the murder and dismembered of María José Zambra in 2019 and the cell phone chip that was activated after his death in Ana María Pizarro’s cell phone, the prosecutor said that “these backgrounds are a matter of investigation and the investigation is reserved for all those people who do not have direct link as intervening in it”.
“However, in order to be able to leave the community alone, I must advance that once the exact and formal news is received that the person is detained in Venezuela, we will ask for an extradition audience,” he added.

Yánez added that this hearing will be public and that once requested, the Serena Court of Guarantee will set the day and time for this, then the background will rise before the Court of Appeals of La Serena, where the request made before the Guarantee Court will be confirmed, and an administrative management will be generated that will be processed through the Foreign Ministry.
As for whether there would be others involved in this homicide, the prosecutor reiterated that this is “total investigation matter.”
On the other hand, the regional presidential delegate, Galo Luna, said that “our role will be to accompany this process, because we want this person to fulfill before justice in our country (…)”.
And although the State of Chile does not have diplomatic relations with Venezuela, the presidential delegate stressed that “these processes follow other courses, are not inconvenient in the field of international relations.”
Detention in Venezuela
Through the Instagram account of the Carabobo State Police, it was announced that Medina Slope was arrested by police officers in Valencia, on Intercomunal La Isabelica Plaza de Toros, after a suspicious attitude of the individual. The verification in the Syipol system confirmed Interpol’s red alert, thus allowing its arrest.

The murder of Ana María Pizarro dates back to the month of April, when after disappearing, the PDI found its remains in an Eriazo place located on Cuatro Esquinas Avenue, between the saint and Route 5 North, between 18 and 19 of that month.
