The former Colombian president Álvaro Uribe appeared on Monday, May 5 before a court in Bogotá as part of the criminal proceeding he faces for alleged crimes of bribery to witnesses and procedural fraud. The audience marks the beginning of the stage in which your defense team will present witnesses in your favor.
Uribe, who has declared himself innocent, appeared from 8:00 am in the Judicial Complex of Paloquemao, where he participated as the first witness of the 75 who have been summoned by his defense lawyers, Jaime Granados and Jaime Lombana.
During his speech, the ex -president decided not to accept the right to remain silent and rejected the accusations of having ordered the lawyer Diego Cadena to contact exparamitaries and other witnesses in order to manipulate his statements.
The defense seeks to dismantle the thesis of the Prosecutor’s Office, which argues that Uribe would have tried to alter testimonies since 2018 to influence a judicial process that linked it with paramilitary groups, initially opened by the Supreme Court of Justice.
