Madring’s works have already begun. The organization has uploaded the first image working in Curve 12, the Perallada, the most emblematic point of this track that will host the Spanish Formula 1 GP since 2026 and will mark the return of the Great Circus to Madrid after a long absence of 45 years.
The return of formula 1 to Madrid is already a reality. More than a year ago, on January 23, 2024, that Liberty Media announced that they would return to the Spanish capital in 2026, this time with a career in a street circuit that would surround the IFEMA facilities. A circuit that already has a name, Madring, and in which the works have already begun.
After the official presentation of the event on April 25, Madring has published today an image to reflect the start of the works. The organization has focused curve 12, Peraltada, one of the most emblematic points of the circuit. He will receive the name of ‘La Monumental’ and for her, the pilots will turn for six seconds before the eyes of 40,000 fans.
For now, we can only see how that determined point of the circuit, even without building, is seen from the sky, but the organization has already uploaded an onboard the day before the official presentation. Thanks to her, we were able to discover the most interesting and challenging points of this track, such as the peralized curve, more than half a kilometer long and with a 24%elevation.
With ‘La Monumental’ as its most emblematic point, Madring has 22 curves, a length of 5.4 kilometers and the lap is expected to be around 1’34 “, with cars reaching at a maximum speed of more than 300 kilometers/hour.
Madring will be the headquarters of the Spanish GP of Formula 1 from 2026 to at least 2035, and the circuit that will host Madrid’s return to the calendar after a long absence of 45 years. To see the last event of the Great Circus in the capital, you have to look back to 1981, when the ill-fated Gilles Villeneuve achieved the sixth and last victory of his career in the Madrid-Jarama Race circuit.
There will be many more iconic moments of Formula 1 in Madrid. They will arrive from 2026 and Madring will be the scenario in which all of them will be lived.
