“It is something positive when your contributions are taken into account by authorities on the subject. This shows that, as a undergraduate student, significant contributions can be made to knowledge, working with patients, communities and teachers, backed by the academic and clinical training that characterizes the University of Cauca,” says the research student.
Currently, David López Cursa fifth year of Medicine and is a member of the Center for Studies in Microbiology and Parasitology (CEMPA), research group assigned to the Department of Internal Medicine of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Part of its scientific production has developed in ETD as the Teniasis/Cysticercosis, pediculosis, leishmaniasis, Chagas and Dengue disease complex. The CEMPA is directed by Professor Luis Reinel Vásquez Arteaga and David López is coordinator of the research seedbed, which includes medical, nursing and biology students. The student has performed research work in unattended tropical diseases, declared by the World Organization for Health and Infectious Diseases of Interest in National Public Health: Teniasis/Cysticercosis, Pediculosis, Leishmaniasis, Malaria, Dengue, Hepatitis Virus and Topics in Hematology.
