Influence of the environment on substance consumption
The results indicate that the consumption of alcohol and other drugs is related to the environment in which adolescents develop. For example, drunkenness in the last 30 days was 12.1% in students with parental low control, compared to 4.9% in those with high control. Also, the consumption of marijuana once in life was 30.5% in the first group and 14.7% in the second.BioBioChile+1Cooperativa.cl+1
The survey also shows that when there is greater involvement of mothers, fathers or caregivers, consumption falls. For example, drunkenness was 11.1% among those who feel it is difficult to receive affection from their caregivers, compared to 4.8% among those who do feel it.
APPLICATION OF RESULTS
Path delivers the communal results to the municipalities and each educational establishment so that they can adjust prevention plans, guide actions in schools, incorporate interventions and improve their diagnoses. This information also allows to coordinate actions and complement the offer from different institutions.
The regional director of Senda, Ana María Rodríguez, stressed that “this is not a survey that measures prevalence or how many students consume. Its purpose is to identify those factors that influence the well -being of students, and that can influence alcohol and other drugs ».
