The day, held in the Aula Magna of the UST Santiago within the framework of the agreement with Nestlé Purina Chile, delivered positive psychology tools to first year students to face the challenges of university life and prevent Burnout syndrome.
On April 23, and on a day marked by optimism and reflection, first -year students of the career of Veterinary Medicine of the Santo Tomás University (UST), Santiago Headquarters participated in the activity «Happy Vet»made in the Magna Aula. This initiative is part of the agreement “Young veterinarians” Between the career and Nestlé Purina Chile, and aims to strengthen the emotional well -being of future professionals, especially in their transition to university life.
The activity is inspired by the principles of positive psychology, a discipline that scientifically studies the experiences and emotions that promote human and institutional well -being. “Happy Vet” seeks to provide tools that allow students to face Burnout syndromephenomenon that can particularly affect those who begin in highly demanding races such as veterinary medicine.
Oscar López, Director of the career in UST Santiago, valued the importance of these instances by pointing out the following: «We invite first -year students to permeate optimism, so that the great change that means moving from secondary education to the university can assume it with tools that help them face the difficulties of this new stage in their lives. These types of activities reinforce the sense of belonging and permanence of our new students«.
Eileen Fell, Trainee de Vetcoach – a program that accompanies this experience – stressed that one of the central axes of the activity is the conscious choice of well -being: “” Being happy or being well is, in large part, an choice. It is essential that students can detonate positive emotions to move towards their objectives and become the professionals who dream«.
Vetcoach integrate these dynamics into the field of veterinary medicine, facilitating learning experiences focused on emotional management and personal development of students. The day culminated in a surprise from Nestlé Purina, who delivered snacks and gifts to the attendees, who enthusiastically thanked an instance that, beyond learning, made them feel happy and motivated.
