The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of the Amazon (UNAP), Javier Vásquez Vásquez, warned that the majority of graduates of medicine migrate to other regions and even abroad due to lack of places in Loreto.

He pointed out that up to ten pediatricians and gynecologists are formed every year, but local hospitals do not expand their hiring capacity. “It is not a regional problem, but of the level, which does not create new places,” he explained. The statements were given within the framework of the 45th anniversary of the Faculty, which this year organized academic and integration activities between , teachers and graduates.

Vásquez stressed that, despite the budgetary limitations, the Faculty continues to form competitive professionals, such as Jules Vásquez, current member of a World Cancer Council, and the former health , Karin Pardo, both graduates of the UNAP.
