According to the official statement issued by the Piedecuesta clinic, cardiorespiratory arrest suddenly occurred during surgery. The medical personnel immediately activated advanced resuscitation maneuvers, initially achieving stabilize the patient.

However, despite the efforts made under strict surveillance in the Intensive Care Unit, the child died shortly after. The institution said that the medical procedure was carried out properly and timely, but no additional details were offered about the possible causes of the event.

We don’t understand why she died in surgery. We want answers.”. Through a statement, the Piedecuesta clinic regretted what happened and indicated that “since admission, the patient received corresponding medical care, quality and in accordance with the established protocols. During the surgical procedure a sudden event of cardiorespiratory arrest was presented.”

“An initial response was achieved, but later, and despite the ideal and timely medical performance, the patient died. The relevant clinical analysis to establish, with scientific rigor, the possible causes of the outcome, ”added the clinic.
The deceased minor lived with her family in the La Chácara village, in the municipality of Santa Bárbara, located approximately 90 minutes from Piedecuesta.
“We deeply regret the death of the girl. We express our most felt condolences to her family and loved ones. May God grant them strength at this difficult moment,” said the Mayor’s Office of Santa Barbara.
