Although an official calendar with specific dates has not been issued, the CFE has indicated that the actions are focused on areas where a high energy theft rate has been identified. Among the priority states are the State of Mexico, Mexico City, Veracruz, Jalisco, Tamaulipas and Nuevo León.
The intervention in rural areas and urban sectors is also contemplated where consumption has not registered or where there are complaints of clandestine connections.
What do technicians review during visits?
The CFE staff performs a detailed review of the following aspects:
– Metter status: its operation is evaluated and evidence of alterations or manipulations is sought.
– Electrical connections: unauthorized changes in the system are inspected, such as the installation of illegal devices known as “devils”, designed to artificially reduce registered consumption.
– Consumption patterns: unusual use behaviors that could indicate fraud or failures in the measurement system are analyzed.
One of the key advances in this program is the implementation of smart meters, capable of registering data in real time and sending information directly to the CFE.
This eliminates the need for constant manual readings and facilitates the identification of anomalies or suspicious changes in consumption.
