The restoration of the promotion and descent in the MX League is still distant, as well as the disappearance of multipropiety, strongly criticized practices at international level, due to the interests of the owners, which they themselves recognize in a way that falls into cynicism, as well as a lack of conditions that give solidity to the tournament to be more attractive to new investors, especially from the United States.
“It is a cultural issue, for example in Europe, there is no option that the anguish and euphoria of promotion and descent does not feel … obviously and from the selfish point, because I represent a small club in Mexico, I am delighted with the closing of the descent. Not so of the ascent, because the league MX has the sufficient dimension to allow more Clubs in the first division. And if I have to vote, I will vote in that sense. Assumption, the decision of the majority, ”said Miguel Ángel Gil, president of Atlético de San Luis, subsidiary of Atlético de Madrid.
Gil also pointed out that another aspect for which the MX League prefers not to restore the promotion and decline is due to the possibility of “future US investments in Mexican football”, due to the proximity with that country where this sports system does not exist that gives a punishment to the squad of worse performance.
The MX League became 2020 in one of the few tournaments in the world, along with the United States, in not having ascent and descent by suspending this sports merit system at least until 2026, when the World Cup will take place. The argument at that time was due to the economic effects of the clubs by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Both Gil and Jorgealberto Hank Inzunza, president of Xolos, and Mauricio Culebro, leader of Tigres, indicated that the independence of the MX League of the Mexican Football Federation is indispensable to sell television rights centrally and thus give more stability to the clubs and that the tournament is more attractive to investors.
-“It is not a legal entity and it is a unit associated with the Federation. Clubs have no representation before them when we are representatives of our teams. Not entering the investment fund (a few months ago) was the best thing that could happen to Mexican football,” he said.
The director of Atlético de San Luis referred to the Global Management Apol
“They cannot be put in the same ticket. The best thing has not been to reach an agreement and start from scratch. An independent league formed by 18 teams must be constituted and that each one has a vote. The clubs the more they invoice the more they can invest. There is no Mexican soccer industry, there is no powerful structure to grow,” said Gil.
Regarding multiprophity, another practices that has unleashed controversy, especially after the exclusion of León from the Club World Cup, for the first time one of the managers involved in this scheme has spoken. Jorgealberto Hank Inzunza, who is part of Grupo Caliente, consortium owner of Xolos, Querétaro and Dorados, resorted to the same speech in which he states that stability is necessary in the league to have good buyers.
“I have the vision that the ideal would be an owner for club but we have to generate those conditions and today they are not yet for people to come to invest because I am convinced that a league of 18 than 15 or 14 teams is better. We can be 20 or 22 in the future but at the end of the day we must have the solid bases so that people also want to come to contribute both ideas and economically,” he said.
