A new section of line 1 of the Mexico City Metro was reopened on Wednesday, after almost three years that the modernization work of the first underground route in the capital began.
In a ceremony headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum and the head of government, Clara Brugada, at the Chapultepec station, the reopening of four more stations was given.
“It is as if a new subway line had been made, the tunnel was emptied, it was reviewed that it was structurally well. Originally, we had stated that in a year it was going to be, when we saw the size of the challenge we faced, we realized that inaugurating to this point, in less than three years, it is a world record,” said Claudia Sheinbaum.
Until before this ceremony, Metro line 1 has only been in operation of the terminal of Pantitlán to the Balderas stationand on Tuesday, April 22, the service ended hours earlier than normal to perform the corresponding tests.
The stations that re -service users from this Wednesday, April 23 are: Cuauhtémoc, Insurgentes, Sevilla and Chapultepecso the enabled tour remains from Pantitlán to Chapultepec and vice versa.
