Mexico City. The Government of Mexico City will reinforce surveillance in the Metro, even with undercover police, given the increase in complaints for punctures to users of that transport system, which currently total 41.
At a press conference, the head of the local executive, Clara Brugada, called on the population to remain calm, noting that in any of the reported cases there has been a risk of the lives of those affected, nor derived in acts of kidnapping or sexual violence.
He stressed that as part of the attention to those who have been victims of these punctures, prophylaxis is supplied to prevent sexual diseases, specifically HIV, although, ”said Local Health Secretary Nadine Gasman,” the risk of infection is minimal.
In that tenor, the prosecutor of Mexico City, Bertha Mayor, said that of the affected people, only four traces of narcotics have been detected, although he avoided saying what substance, pointing out that investigations continue.
The safety reinforcement includes the deployment of uniformed in the platforms of all subway stations, as well as within the trains, so that at 5,800 elements assigned to the surveillance of the network, 200 more of the foxes and panthers groups will be added.

Of the complaints filed, 33 of the attacks occurred in the Metro, four in the Metrobús, three on public roads and one more in the internal transport of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), known as Pumabus.
