Mexico City. In just over three years, the authorities of the Office of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) of the United States have detected more than 155 thousand drones that have entered their territory, operated by organized crime, to spy on the operations of the government of that country, so these devices mean “a very serious threat”, Gloria Chávez, Chief of Patrol of the Patrol, Border.
In a virtual conversation, the official indicated that from February 2022 to date the aforementioned amount of devices was identified. “We invest technology to dismantle those drones, which often record our operations to do their illicit work in areas where we take us to get there,” he said.
According to Chávez, the existence of drones allegedly operated by organized crime in the southwest zone of the dividing line between the two countries “is a very serious threat to those who work the border. We know that those who operate the drones are the narco.”
According to the head of the office in the Rio Grande Valley sector, who recalled the ability of these implements to carry explosives and harm people, these areas are monitored in conjunction with the Mexican army in collaboration.
-“Mexico is a very important partner, because monitoring national security is for the benefit of the two countries. Mexico is very dedicated in supporting this effort with more than 10 thousand national guard troops to combat drug trafficking in Las Garitas, especially fentanyl, which is very dangerous. It is very important that Mexico continues as a partner supporting this effort,” he said.
On the other hand, Chavez stressed that there has been a “tremendous, very significant change”, in terms of the intentions of crossing people without documents in the area where she is in charge, which have fallen more than 70 percent since the beginning of the Donald Trump government.
“The last fiscal year, from October 1 (from 2023) to September 30 (from 2024), there were 135 thousand arrests, an average of almost 370 people daily, but compared to the fiscal year of October 1 to date, there was drastic change. With the new administration, illegal migration (sic) decreased by almost 71 percent, only in this sector (from the border between Tamaulipas and Texas. He pointed out.
The official stressed that the cross without documents to the United States has practically immediate consequences. “They will stop, process and prosecute and go before a judge and the person will be deported immediately,” he warned.
