If you missed the ad in American Idol On Sunday (April 27) at night, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden and The White Stripes are the artists who will join this year in the category of performers. Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will receive the musical influence award; Philly Soul Thom Bell producer, English pianist/study organist Nicky Hopkins and study bassist Carol Kaye will receive the Excellence Musical Award; and the producer and executive Lenny Wararker will receive the Ahmet Ertegun award.
The other seven nominees in the category of interpreters failed to enter the Hall of Fame this year. Oasis and Mariah Carey were overlooked for the second consecutive year, both notable omissions. Oasis is gathering for a world tour in 2025, and Carey’s profile, which has never been low, has been promoted in recent years by its status as the undisputed Christmas queen. Maná sought to become the first act of rock in Spanish to enter the Hall of Fame. Joy Division/New Order sought to join the list of few related acts that have been included together, such as Parliament/Funkadelic in 1997 and The Small Faces/Faces in 2012.
